Jands Travel Network sees the necessity to create a platform – The Flowing Feathers Tourism Writing Competition, to educate the younger generation and future leaders on the importance of and issues associated with Nigerian domestic tourism
The competition comes as an extra-curricular platform to inspire, encourage and prepare the children to play their part as future nation builders, as well as to arouse the interests of children and parents alike on the tourism profession and the travel and tourism business.
It also aims to rekindle the lost writing and reading culture in Nigerian children, and create an avenue for candidates to be innovative, analytical and able to evaluate outcomes.
Last year’s edition saw the beginning of an era where tourism is being introduced to the younger generation and their schools as a different subject from what they are used to. It generated questions and debates on why tourism is not and should not be part of the departments and subjects in our schools, as it is obvious that Nigeria is an economy in dire need of diversification.

April 29th – Official launch of the 2022 Tourism Writing Competition. This will include the press release and robust media presence at the occasion.
June 30th – Deadline for the submission of entries (essay or poem)
July 4th – Judges begin their vetting to produce the best entries.
July 29th – Prize giving and awards day.
